Character.AI Adds Creator Guides, Analytics and Audience Tools
Character.AI’s new tools combine creation guidance, performance metrics, follower features and leaderboards to help creators refine Characters and reach audiences.

Character.AI is adding tools across the creator workflow, from building and managing Characters to understanding their performance and helping users find new work. The update combines a revised Creator Guide, mobile editing changes, Creator Insights, follower features and leaderboards. Together, they give creators more ways to refine their work and build an audience on the platform.

The changes address a challenge that comes with a large catalog: discovery of individual Characters doesn’t necessarily help users keep track of the people creating them. Character.AI says its community has created millions of Characters across genres, fandoms and styles. The new features aim to make that work easier to develop, measure and revisit.
Guidance and editing for Character creators

The updated Creator Guide collects examples, guidance and recommended practices for creating Characters. It’s intended for both new creators and people revising established Characters, with advice that reflects the platform’s latest chat styles, including PipSqueak 2 and DeepSqueak.
Character.AI describes the guide as a living resource, shaped by feedback from creators and the company’s team. The guide is expected to change as features and chat styles are added. That matters because advice for creating an engaging Character can depend on the tools available: a guide that gets updated can help creators adapt their approach as those tools change.
The guide is available at c.ai/guide.
Character.AI is also refreshing the mobile Character creation flow. Creators will be able to create, edit and manage Characters from a phone, including adding and changing Character tags directly in the mobile experience. For creators who work away from a desktop, handling tags in the same place as other edits could make routine updates easier to complete.
Performance metrics for iteration

Creator Insights adds a view of how Characters are performing. Its metrics include interactions, followers, likes, discoveries and top-performing Characters. The tool also includes tips for improving Characters and filtering intended to help creators make sense of the data.
These measures offer different signals about an audience. Interactions and likes can help show how users respond to a Character, while followers and discoveries give creators information about audience growth and how people find their work. The figures can help creators compare their Characters and decide where to experiment or make changes.
Those metrics don’t, on their own, explain why a Character resonates or why a user discovered it. Creators will still need to interpret the signals in context and test changes against their goals. Even so, a central place to review performance may make that cycle of observation and revision more practical.

Following creators and finding new Characters

Character.AI plans to add a dedicated Following tab where users can browse Characters from creators they follow. The company says the feature is launching soon. It gives users a direct way to find new Characters from familiar creators and return to worlds they’ve already enjoyed.

Notifications for new Characters are also planned. When a creator publishes something new, followers will be able to receive a notification. That could help new work reach an existing audience without relying on users to search for it themselves. The source doesn’t specify when either feature will arrive or how users will manage notification settings.
Leaderboards spotlight creator activity

Creator Leaderboards add another discovery route by highlighting people behind popular or growing Characters. The Top Creators list focuses on creators whose Characters keep users returning week after week. Rising Creators is intended to surface creators gaining momentum through growing engagement, followers, and newly created or improved Characters.
The two lists emphasize different kinds of activity: sustained return visits and developing reach. They may help users encounter creators they haven’t followed yet, while giving creators another way to be discovered. Character.AI hasn’t shared ranking formulas or thresholds, so the precise role each metric plays in placement remains unclear.
The leaderboards are available at c.ai/leaderboard.
A broader creator workflow
Taken together, the features cover several stages of creating for Character.AI: learn how to build a Character, manage it on mobile, review audience signals, reach followers with new work and gain visibility through leaderboards. The practical value will depend on how useful the guidance and metrics prove in day-to-day work, and on how the forthcoming follower features perform once they launch.
For creators working across a catalog of Characters, the main change is a more connected set of tools around creation and audience growth. The next measure will be whether those tools help users find and return to the creators whose work they enjoy.
